Her acting career started with modeling. She modeled initially in Mumbai. During one of the commercial shoots for Pepsi, which featured actor Madhvan also, she had a brush with the chance. She met him, showed her photographs and convinced him that she had it in her to make it big. Madhvan arranged an audition for her in Chennai, and she was signed for a Tamil movie titled 'Jay Jay' during the year 2003. A beginning was made and later, Nisha Kothari also appeared in a Telugu movie 'Madhyanam Hatya' during 2004. In both the Tamil and Telugu movies she had a screen name of Amoha. She has also modeled with Indian Cricketer Kapil Dev.
